Jeremy Steele charges to the top at the Bridge and Hayden Cardwell masters a rainy Wythe Raceway!
Labor Day Weekend means Crystal Cup! The seventh annual edition took us to two great tracks in Virginia, Natural Bridge speedway on Saturday for night one and Night two at Wythe Raceway on Sunday. Over 35 Cars each night battling it out for the money.
We began the weekend with MyRacePass Hot Laps at Natural Bridge Speedway. Points Leader Tyler Arrington set the fastest time of the session with a 16.601. Close behind in second and third were Trevor Sise and Ronnie Martin Jr., their times a 16.641 and a 16.671. In fourth we had Jeremy Steele, 16.843, and in fifth Joe Leavell, 16.880.
In BHR and Double Nickle Qualifying the Quick Time would go to Tyler Arrington again. His lap this time a 16.623. In second with a 16.725 was Jeremy Steele and in third with a 16.785 was John Ruggiero Jr. Joe Leavell came in fourth with a 16.789, while Zach Sise finished in fifth, his time a 16.811. All but Ruggiero were in Double Nickle Group two.
O'Reilly Auto Parts Heat 1 was then won by John Ruggiero Jr. who secured the inside pole for the feature this way. Behind him were Ronnie Martin Jr. in second and Benji Hicks in third. Logan Roberson finished fourth.
Outside Groove Heat 2 saw Trevor Sise win and secure his starting spot at the top. In second came Trent Ivy, while Justin Williams finished fourth. Ryan Smith fought hard and secured his transfer spot in fourth.
Quick Time Tyler Arrington would PPM Racing Products Heat 3 Infront of a strong charging Kendal Tucker. Tucker passed Joe Leavell for second in the process, Leavell then finished third. Ethan Wilson would then be the one to secure the last transfer spot.
In American Racer Heat 4 it was Jeremy Steele that crossed the finish line in first. He was followed by Zach Sise in second and Colten Stanly in third. The last transfer spot before the B-Mains went to Jack Brown in fourth.
In DirtRichTV B Main 1 Colby Quick won and made sure he advances to the Feature. Behind him in second was Dalton Jacobs and in third was Samuel Bryant.
Gasko Gaskets B Main 2 was won by Shawn Walker with Tyler Hoy and Billy Bleacher following him in second and third to the feature race.
But before we come to the feature we have to talk about the Mini Allstars Sponsored by VP. 11 Mini Wedges were going for the biggest purse in Mini All Stars History.
In their Heat 1 Stephen Lusher charged to the top, just in front of Corbin Kincaid in second and Brodie Harisson in third.
Heat 2 was won by the "Rhodes-Show" Addison Rhodes. Behind her was Marshall Stinnett in second and just behind was Ayela Jarvis in third.
In their Feature Rhodes showed she was the fastest on the track and she won from start to finish. Second went to Ayela Jarvis and third went to Brodie Harisson. Stephen Lusher came in fourth and Corbin Kincaid in fifth.
With that it was time for the Crystal Cup Night One Feature! John Ruggiero would lead them off while the back scrambled for spots. The race would go on with Ruggiero leading without cautions but soon he would catch up to the back and get stuck in lapped traffic which got the ones in hunt closer but not through. But a late problem with his breaks dropped him to fourth leaving Tyler Arrington and Jeremy Steele to fight for the win for the last two laps. But only one can win and that would be Jeremy Steele! He won just in front of Arrington and Hard Charger Zach Sise in third. Ruggiero would salvage a fourth even with problems, just missing out on fourth was Ronnie Martin Jr. that had to settle for fifth. The second half of the top ten would be: Joe Leavell, Justin Williams, Trevor Sise, Logan Roberson and Trent Ivey.
The second night of the Crystal Cup would take us to the fast Wythe Raceway, also in VA.
Our night started with rain before Hot Laps but when the MyRacePass Hot Laps finally started Trevor Sise set the Quick Time with a 17.437. Points Leader Tyler Arrington was second, his time a 17.649 and Zach Sise in third with a 17.673. Fourth was last night's winner Jeremy Steele, 17.796 and in fifth former series champion Hayden Cardwell with a 17.810.
Combined Quick Time of BHR and Double Nickle Qualifying was Tyler Arrington again. His time that night a 17.514, while Hayden Cardwell had to settle for second with a 17.515. With a 17.580 and a 17.621 were both Sise brothers in third and fourth, Zach in third and Trevor in fourth. Fifth finished Jeremy Steele with a 17.707.
O'Reilly Auto Parts Heat 1 was won by Hayden Cardwell. Behind him would be Trevor Sise who held of Benji Hicks for second, Hicks finishing third. In fourth, racing his way into the feature was Joshua Chesney.
In Outside Groove Heat 2 we would see Zach Sise winning by holding off John Ruggiero Jr. to second. Behind them finished Jeremy Steele in third and Ronnie Martin Jr. in fourth.
Tyler Arrington would go on and win PPM Racing Products Heat 3 in front of Coldy Quick, who finished second. In third we had Chris Chandler and in fourth, David Smith
American Racer Heat 4 would see Dillon Brown take victory with Kendal Tucker behind him in second. In third was Bradley Lewelling and the last transfer spot in Heat races went to Trent Ivey.
In DirtRichTV B Main 1 Dawson Lowe took his chance to race into the feature with a win. Following him into the Feature would Preston Dimsdale in second and Jack Brown in third.
Brandon Umberger would save himself a spot in the feature by winning Gasko Gaskets B Main 2. Joe Leavell and Ethan Wilson would finish second and third, also advancing to the Feature.
With that it was time for night two of the seventh annual Crystal Cup! Hayden Cardwell took of right from the start, only being held up by an early red flag, all drivers involved are okay. After that he went back to dominating the field and collecting an outstanding win. In second came Zach Sise and in third a strong charging Benji Hicks. In fourth was Tyler Arrington and fifth finished Dillon Brown. The second half of the top ten was as follows: Trevor Sise, John Ruggiero Jr., Trent Ivey, Colby Quick and Joe Leavell.
